Director of the Christian Muslim Forum since its launch in 2006, was previously seconded to the Archbishop of Canterbury's Initiative in Christian-Muslim Relations for two years from HM Revenue & Customs. One of the originators of the Christian Muslim Forum's leaders' programme which has been encouraging influential Christians and Muslims to engage with each other at a local level, now supported by the Department for Communities through the Near Neighbours programme.

Julian has engaged with diverse Muslim communities, organisations and individuals around the country, while also encouraging Christians to meet with Muslims, both through the Christian Muslim Forum and as a member of the Methodist Church. His passion is for committed friendship and collaboration between Christians and Muslims. He has worked in partnership with a number of Muslim organisations, particularly the Islamic Society of Britain, and spoke at the launch of Islam Awareness Week 2012 on the theme of 'Love'.
